Aloha, babies! I'm finally eighteen today- and to be completely honest with you, I don't feel much different at all. It feels just like any other day. I'm going out tonight, though, to dinner with my family and a couple of friends, so perhaps I'll feel ~special~ then! Especially when I order my first ever legal drink at the bar! It's ~~probably a little~~ pathetic that I'm nervous about this.

Anyway, because it's been so cold recently- and only getting so much colder here in the UK, with snow expected tonight where I live (trust this to happen on my birthday- typical!)- I've been unable to take serious outfit photographs without half freezing to death. But these are snippets of two outfits I wore this past week- I'm in all sorts of love with the reverse-back-necklace thing. It makes everything look so dainty and delicate. Just so much love for it all.

I get home pretty late from college most days of the week, and so by that time, the light is just all gone. It's usually pitch dark when I get in- and that makes for a really difficult picture-taking situation, as I'm sure some of you will empathise with. Therefore, I've simply got to apologise for the quality of these photographs, and the fact that I've had to resort to taking them in my room again. They're a lot better than eyes-half-closed, everything-bleached-out photographs outside in the dark with flash on, though.

As you can probably tell from the amount of photographs in this post, I went a bit snap-happy tonight. I think I need that from time to time, in all fairness. It's very therapeutic.

In other news: I'm finally off for two weeks for Christmas. I am so glad I get some time off college now- it was getting a bit too stressful for me to deal with, in all honesty. I definitely need this break!

Hey, darlings! As usual, I'm sorry about the long delays between posts: I'm just either totally drained of energy, or have no time, or both, lately. This week isn't likely to get much better, unfortunately. I have so much to do! Christmas shopping, universitythings, college coursework deadlines- ugh.

Anyway, I kind of liked my outfit today (although mainly I think I just love the shirt ridiculous amounts and wear it pretty much every other day) so I figured I might as well show you it, especially as it's been a while since my last post. Here you are!

That's probably why I'm not in bed right now, even though I'm so sleepy- my nervousness has got me all panicky and flustered. Boooo.

Hullo again, my lovelies. I've been ill since last weekend- I got whatever it was my stepdad had, literally on the day of my last post on here, and it's still here. I'm currently going through a ridiculously chesty cough, and the most unpleasant cold, and with the strikes on Wednesday, and tutor review day on Tuesday, luckily the only day of college I missed from being ill was Monday. I hope I'm feeling better soon, because I've spent the last ten days sniffling!

This lipstick is my current obsession. It's the perfect texture- not sticky, but not ridiculously dry either- and the perfect finish too: not glossy, but not completely matte, which is a nice change for me with my ultra-matte red lip. I don't know how old this is, as it was a present from my mum, but if you can get your hands on it, I do recommend it!

I hope you've had a better week than I have; I received some bad news about my plans for my academic future, i.e. I most likely have to postpone going to university for yet another year (so, a 2014 entry, as opposed to 2013) and I'm working on figuring it all out right now. So yes, really, I do hope your week was better than mine... and that you've all been well!

X Machines and How It's Made.

So I decided to get out the ol' leather jacket that was gifted to me by my stepdad about two years ago now. I refuse to buy real leather anything, but because this was a gift, I decided to keep it, especially as I didn't actually own anything like a leather jacket previously. This has been a staple ever since. It really adds that edge to any outfit, especially if the outfit's too "cute" or too "sexy" or too feminine.

Eeep, hullo, lovelies! I'm sorry it's been a while- I've been in a bit of a funk as of late, and fell rather behind on college work... something I'm still recovering from. Anyway, as a break, my family and I were to go to a pub quiz tonight, but at the last minute we didn't end up going as my stepdad wasn't feeling very well... so since I was all dressed and ready, I figured I might as well take a few photographs of my outfit for the blog. So here you are!

Velvet's super on-trend this fall/winter, and it's a fabric/style that I really do adore- so what better way of bringing in what felt like the coldest day of the year with some true winter apparel? Both the tunic and jacket I'm wearing below are velvet, or velvet inspired, and with the plainness of the leggings, I feel like I can pull off velvet-on-velvet without being too over the top. (How many more times am I going to say the word "velvet"?)

An unexpected meal.

I had a late and lazy start to the college day today, so I put a bit more effort into my outfit. After college, I got picked up by my mum and brother, and we met up with my stepdad at a pub near us for dinner, rather unexpectedly. I've been to the pub before, and I found it super disappointing the last time... but this time I was pleasantly surprised! The food was great this time. I think I might just give the place a second chance. Anyway, I'm glad I wasn't wearing my usual jumper/jeans combination, because that would have looked quite silly out to dinner, since it was a very swanky pub. This is what I wore instead:

I can't seem to dress myself for the night without looking over the top.

I've just got home from a meal out with the family- if you're ever in the mood for an Indian, and you just happen to be in Southampton, Coriander Lounge in the heart of town is the place to go. The food's as authentic as we've been able to find in Southampton (with only one exception) and it's always really yum.

Anyway, as my title suggests, dressing myself for dinner out was a challenge- I can't do semi-casual very well. After trying on three different outfits, I finally settled on the third. Mostly due to the fact that we were running late and needed to leave when I got the third one on. Here it is:

Denim dress = originally belonged to my best friend, but she's recently given it to me since I'm the only one that wears it anyway!

Ankle boots (that you can't even see), coat = vintage

It was a really good evening, and now I'm off to play "Buzz" with my family (which I find such a chore, and still ended up winning the last two times we played!) and eat homemade apple & pear crumble. God, the calories.

So I'm thinking that with the light essentially non-existent when I get home from college/town/out, it's highly unlikely I'll be able to take proper photographs. And in all honesty, I like the convenience my webcam offers me. So I'll stick with the webcam photographs for a while, perhaps with the odd proper photograph thrown into the mix. I hope you don't mind.

Right, anyway, so: here's what I wore today.

It's getting pretty cold here now, and layering seems like an absolute must. Although, the college buildings all had the heating up on full blast, and there I was in my three layers, black skinnies, several pairs of socks and boots, roasting. Not to mention my humongous shawl thing, and my coat. Welp.

Since I have an early finish on Fridays, I went into town with a couple of my friends to get lunch and wander aimlessly around shops. Have I mentioned how much I adore Subway subs? No? Well. I do. Mmm. Lots. They're so good!

Also, my tragus piercing has been absolutely awful lately, so I went and got that checked out where I had it pierced... the piercing artist behind the counter said it was a "keloid" and that it was "angry". I can't do anything to it, including remove the ring, until the keloid's healed. Booooo. Unimpressed.

Anyway, I got home and did cuddles with the pupsicle, which alludes to the title of this post- I smell of her right now. It's strangely comforting.

We took photographs. She's the prettiest thing ever, even when she's raggedy and needs a bath.

Now that the first week back at college after half term is over, I'm absolutely exhausted. My plans for the weekend consist of sleeping, working out (hopefully, but unlikely), eating relatively healthy (she says with chocolate stashed away in her bedside drawer...!) and finishing up my UCAS application.

But it was too dark when I got home from college to take proper photographs anyway, and also it was super rainy. But this is what I wore today, and I must admit: I am in love with this outfit!

Admittedly, I should have probably worn not-suede boots with this, but I only bought them yesterday, and they're too gorgeous to resist! I'm dreading going back to college on Monday- I really can't be bothered. Such a model student, me. But really, it's such an effort. Especially after nearly three months of not doing anything during summer. I'm really going to miss my lie-ins! Not to mention wasting away in bed on Tumblr, watching True Blood and Queer as Folk clips, welp. Oh god. I am so not ready to go back to college. I haven't done any work for college either!

Ten cool points for whoever knows where/what the title is from!~

Everything here (apart from the wedges- they're way old from when I was still in India!) has been purchased to support some sort of charity; the shirt is from the PDSA charity shop local to where I live, and the jacket/cardigan and skirt are both from the lovely Second Chance Dog Rescue Charity, who hosted an open day event last Sunday.

It was such a treat, with lots of adorable mutts milling about with their doting owners (or shall I say "their humans"?), with music and food (that we didn't actually sample, as we were saving ourselves for the Thai festival in town which promised delicious delicacies- more on that in a moment, though!). It was just such a fun little shindig to go to, and definitely the sort of thing I want to do more often. It wasn't even so much about the clothing I bought (even though any money raised goes straight to the darling dogs!) but just the atmosphere of the place. You know you're at home when you can look about you and spot people simply mad about their pooches, just like yourself. Unfortunately (or fortunately...) I was so engrossed in cooing over all the gorgeous doglets around, I completely forgot to take any photographs, even though I had my camera right with me! Oh well- hopefully I'll have more opportunities to go to events like that in the future that I can document properly!

After the open day, we dropped the puplet home, and after a quick cuddle and feeding, drove off to the Thai festival I previously mentioned. I cannot begin to explain what an intense riot of colours, sights, smells, and sounds it was; definitely something to experience. I've found that Southampton's pretty brilliant when it comes to multiculturalism- there's an Indian mela (fair) that takes place every year, I think, at the same Hoglands Park that the Thai festival was hosted at- and so you're never short of opportunities to experience little tasters of other cultures. I haven't been to the mela yet, however I believe it's on some time within the next two weeks, and I'm definitely looking forward to going to that!

Can you believe that they actually had a "Miss Thai Southampton" beauty pageant at the festival!?

I can't say I was a massive fan of Thai food, which is slightly weird, considering I totally adore Chinese food, and I think the two are pretty similar, really. Oh well, each to his own!

This is turning out to be a massive post, but we just did so much that Sunday! I loved every second of it. When we got home, mum and I did a bit of gardening and sprucing up the front garden, and it made us even more exhausted, but there was something very peaceful and soothing about planting flowers and just generally tending the garden. I think I'll be trying my hand at more gardening at some point! Also, I got a few photographs from the activity, so overall, it was absolutely worth it.

Going through my reader today, I stumbled upon this post by "forevertheuglyduckling" talking about ELF brushes being made from animal hair!? I had no idea. I'm not big on brushes, and own only a few cheap supermarket branded ones for my limited blusher and eyeshadow needs, but I know a lot of people are really into brushes; especially ELF ones. Personally, this totally shocked me- and the fact that they don't even state that they're made from animal hair makes it seem all the more dodgy!

Were you aware of this? And how do you feel about it? Does this make you more or less into the brand? Let me know!

It was my stepdad's birthday yesterday (the 29th, in case of time zone differences!)and I was supposed to be at college, but out of sheer coincidence, my alarm didn't ring in the morning, and so I overslept and didn't end up going in at all. How convenient, seeing as when my parents got home from shopping and picking my little brother up from town, I was prepared to go out- practically begging to go out, seeing as I was bored out of my mind!

We went to dinner at Rancho's Steakhouse, in Southampton, and I've got to say, the place is a total violation of pretty much everything I believe in! It's got cow skins up on the wall, on the backs of chairs, and a very limited selection of food if you're vegetarian. But I'm not yet, and so I actually had the chance to sample the food they pride themselves on- only to find out that it's all actually rather yum. We ordered the ribs, nachos, and chili con carne for starters, and they do the best ribs I have ever tasted- and this coming from someone that isn't even a fan of ribs! The chili con carne was more like soup, but I was feeling in a ~soupy~ mood, so it was fine. The nachos were practically gone by the time I'd left the restroom, so I can't quite comment on them, except the dip that came with them was totally lush! (By the way, the restrooms in there are amazing. Immaculately clean, and so stylish! Personally, I thought the restrooms put the rest of the place to shame, ha!)

For our main courses, we all had very different dishes, and I've got to say, I've never enjoyed mushrooms and spinach that much before! The chicken could have been better, but it was definitely above average- I think, though, that the place's forte is steak. Both my parents ordered variants of steak, and they both really thought it was well cooked to their liking. I think that was the main idea- I wanted them to have an amazing time, and I think they did.

I think the highlight of the evening was my mum asking my stepdad how his new belt felt, and my stepdad responding with, "~belty~". That sounds like an awful highlight, but I suppose it was one of those "you had to be there" moments, you know?

Am I the only one that goes into shop sales and starts sorting out all the clothing that's in the wrong place, replacing clothes onto hangers and shelves off the floor? Because that's exactly what I did at H&M's massive sale. Really. I just sorted stuff out.
I initially went in to look around at things I could buy my mum for her birthday on the 9th, but ended up spending about £25 on myself. Whoopsie daisy! I did buy her some nice jewellery that I hope she'll like, as well as a bunch of other bits and bobs from different places. Went into Dorothy Perkins too, as that's her favourite high street store, and got her a few bits from in there. Hopefully she'll love them!

I bought this jumpsuit at H&M, in the sale, for £10. It was the last one in my size, too, so I was dead chuffed! But it was the only one on the rack that didn't have the sale tag on it- and I'm always paranoid about things like that as I get all flustered when asking about things and whether they're on the sale or not, etc. But I did it anyway; very proud of myself, of course!

Do let me know what kind of sale shopper you are, though- are you vindictive and relentless in your hunt for a bargain? Or do you sort out other peoples' messes?!

I'm so in love with my new blazer- and I'm rather pleased I managed to get it for only £6.75. Charity shops can be brilliant for stand-alone pieces and rare finds like this one.
This entire outfit is sort of inspired by a lot of people I see both at college and on Lookbook, and I think it's actually quite adventurous of me to have attempted to pull off a semi-formal look like this. I was absolutely bricking it about the legwarmers/knee highs! To be fair, I spent the majority of my day pulling them back up my legs as they kept slipping down towards my calves. They're an old pair, and the elastic is now, sadly, non-existent. Hopefully I'll be able to invest in a couple new pairs at some point, although even if I don't, no harm done, really.

This is my first ever post here, so do excuse me if the fact that I'm a complete newbie is obvious. I have a blog on Tumblr- this one- and while I am primarily a photo-blogger there, lately I've been very interested in fashion blogging- therefore the creation of this blog. I follow some really amazing people, such as Bekah and Lily, whose posts initially inspired me to create this blog/to start fashion blogging.

To begin with, I think I should talk a little about myself- my name is Anshika, although I am known as "Ash" by almost everybody. I'm of Indian origin, but I currently reside in the small port city of Southampton, in England. I love it here, and think of this as my home, as compared to anywhere else in the world.

I turned seventeen two days ago, and I suppose you could say that I'm beginning a new project by creating this blog- new start and all that jazz.

I'm five feet, seven inches tall, and weigh about eleven stone. That's overweight for my age/height, but I'm working on it. I suppose this blog will (hopefully) document my progression towards being a healthier weight-

not only so I look better, but feel better and more confident too.

I go to sixth form college, and take photography, media studies, English literature/language, and communication & culture. I'm not a massive fan of college, but mostly because I just miss school. It's a permanent ache inside me, and I'm fine with the fact that it won't go away.
